HRM Travel Softball is led by longtime coaching duo Jennifer and Patrick Swift, who bring more than 20 years of collegiate coaching, recruiting, and player development experience along with a shared passion for helping young women grow with confidence both on and off the field.
Jennifer Swift is the creator of The Home Run Mindset™ and former Head Coach at both NC State and Saint Francis University, where she built nationally ranked offenses and led programs to conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Patrick Swift began his coaching career in college baseball before transitioning to softball in 2012 so he and Jennifer could coach side by side while raising their three daughters. He coached alongside Jennifer at both Saint Francis and NC State, becoming known for his work in technology integration, recruiting strategy, defensive development, and building detail-oriented team systems.
While collegiate coaching was their profession, Jennifer and Patrick intentionally never pushed softball on their three daughters despite spending much of their lives around the game. Over time, however, their daughters became inspired by the confident, strong young women they watched their parents coach and eventually asked to learn the game themselves.
As their daughters continued growing in the sport, the Swifts also began recognizing a growing development gap within softball after years of coaching at the collegiate level. They saw more and more players arriving to college physically talented, yet often unprepared for the demands of the game itself — including softball IQ, confidence under pressure, communication, leadership, resilience, and the consistency required to succeed at higher levels of competition.
That realization, combined with their passion for coaching their own children, became the foundation of HRM Travel Softball — a program rooted in faith, family, mindset, leadership, and intentional long-term player development. Today, HRM combines collegiate-level experience with a modern approach to softball development designed to help players grow with confidence, compete with purpose, and become more prepared for both the game and life beyond it.
When Jennifer and Patrick Swift first moved to North Carolina around the same time as Kristel and Justin, the two families quickly crossed paths through youth softball. Kristel and Justin coached the Swifts’ youngest daughter, Charliana, for two seasons, and during that time, what stood out most was not only their knowledge and passion for the game, but the way they connected with players, taught with intention, and created a positive and competitive team environment. Charliana absolutely loved playing for them, and it quickly became clear to the Swifts that Kristel and Justin brought the kind of energy, care, and leadership they believed young athletes need within youth sports.
As the families grew closer both on and off the field, the Swifts quickly realized Kristel and Justin shared many of the same values and beliefs they felt were important in youth softball — development over shortcuts, accountability, communication, confidence, strong fundamentals, and genuine care for the athletes and families involved. That shared vision ultimately led to Kristel and Justin becoming part of the foundation of HRM Travel Softball.
As parents of four athletes — ages 21, 20, 19, and 12 — Kristel and Justin have spent years deeply involved in youth sports and athlete development. Their coaching journey began in San Diego, California, where they coached their older children through Little League, All-Stars, and multiple district and regional championship runs before eventually launching their own travel baseball organization. Their oldest daughter now plays collegiate softball, continuing the family’s deep connection to athlete development and competitive sports.
As their youngest daughter began playing softball, they quickly recognized the importance of creating a more intentional environment for player development, confidence, and long-term growth.
Today, Kristel and Justin bring years of coaching experience, energy, and passion to HRM Travel Softball. Coaching alongside the Swifts, they help create a positive, disciplined, and competitive environment where players are challenged to grow not only as athletes, but also as teammates, leaders, and young women both on and off the field.
